Cars, vans and trucks used for business purposes are valuable. Despite their depreciating value, they are an asset when day to day work commitments depend on it getting us from one place to the next. Yet, how often do you see vehicles with visible signs of rust around the wheel arches and panel joints. If you have existing rust on your vehicle the best advice is to act now to halt the spread. Left untreated, it will spread rapidly resulting in much higher repair costs - plus the cost of hiring a car in the interim!

Rust treatment requires the initial manual labour of cleaning and removing parts such as light fittings and sensors before application of a rust converter and rust proofing.

  • Use a wire brush to scrape off the worst of the rust. Don't remove all traces of rust as its presence is required for the complete chemical reaction of a rust converter.
  • Apply a rust converter like DINITROL RC900 aerosol application or DINITROL RC800 by either painting or spraying it on to the affected area.
  • Apply a minimum of two coats of rust converter to produce the best results in converting rust to a stable compound.
  • Allow it to dry overnight during which time it will turn the rust into a black stable organic compound ready for waxing.

Why use DINITROL rust converter?

  • DINITROL RC900 penetrates rust 7-10 times deeper than standard rust converters.
  • RC900 is free of lead, zinc and chromium.
  • Product is over-paintable.
  • As the RC900 rust converter dries it forms an impermeable barrier to oxygen and moisture
  • DINITROL RC900 forms a dry and strong adhesive film which is suitable as a base for paintwork and other rust protection products.

A little time and effort can make a visible and mechanical difference to a vehicle to ensure it gives many more years of service. Ignoring rust can becoming an expensive exercise and a big inconvenience. So treat now.
